Lower Market Taxi Artifact - Vehicle (U) When Lower Market Taxi enters the battlefield, create a 2/1 white Pilot creature token with defender. Crew 2 The taxis are expensive, but anyone going by foot in the Lower Market is likely to lose their whole wallet. 3/3

Apocalypse Engine Artefact -- Vehicle Trample Whenever ~ deals damage to an opponent, destroy all creatures. Crew 2 5/5 Damned if you crew, damned if you don't.
I've discovered that I don't like designing Vehicles that much, but here we go.
Adaptive Exoskeleton Artifact -- Vehicle (R) Whenever a creature with first strike crews Adaptive Exoskeleton, Adaptive Exoskeleton gains that ability until end of turn. The same is true for flying, deathtouch, double strike, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, trample, and vigilance. Crew 2 4/4

this tells a decent story, but the mechanics fit together weirdly. I think I would've liked it more with just one or the other ability: they both scream "giant war drill" but in completely different ways. it's also a little weird to have a benefit to other attackers on a vehicle just 'cause they tie up some of your other attacking resources, but 3 isn't a super high Crew number so I think the tension between the two works.

I wish this didn't have to be so long 'cause I really like the story it's got going but it takes some serious processing. there's also a slight rules problem in that when you exile it it resets and loses track of what its previous incarnation had exiled. you can fix that by having it stay on the battlefield and remove all damage instead, though. overall I think it's a clever piece of narrative that's slightly complicated but not overwhelmingly so for a higher rarity.

I really wish I didn't love this. I want to be the sort of person who doesn't just look at this and giggle, but alas I am who I am and this is adorable.

hmm. I'm a little unsure as to how much damage this deals. like, if I use it with scroll thief, does it deal damage based on the Thief's power or the Pod's? either way is potentially unintuitive so I'd definitely include reminder text. either way I think it's probably too powerful: remember that you can crew with summoning sickness, so this effectively gives your saboteurs haste as well. I'd probably weaken the evasion so there's some counterplay, maybe "can't be blocked by creatures with 2 or more power"?

aw. I'm trying to figure out if this is better or worse than a vanilla 3/3 for 3 and I'm not entirely sure. I think it's worse, though, which is good 'cause those probably shouldn't be colorless. anyway it's a clever use of the mechanics without being super YMtC about it, and the flavor's great.
arathinius
first of all the flavor text is great. second of all, I like how putting this on a vehicle forces you to commit more to it 'cause you have to have other creatures to destroy, but it simultaneously makes it easier to build around because it's in a set with other vehicles so you have "creatures" you can just not animate. although honestly I might like it more if the ability was "destroy all creatures and vehicles"? I don't know. but it's definitely solid. I might up the Crew number and drop the CMC, though, to force a bit more commitment.

this is cute but I think it's let down a bit by such a low Crew. it's more fun if more things Crew it, so I think I'd rather see it with a big number (at least 4, maybe 5 or 6) and a very large body to compensate. it's also kind of unintuitive as is that you can actually over-Crew, which in most cases doesn't make a difference so players may reasonably assume it's not an option. if I have, say, typhoid rats, aven skirmisher, and boros recruit, it's not necessarily obvious that I can give my Exoskeleton all three abilities.

Round 7
speaking of bloodbaths, another way to get in danger is to pick a fight with someone much tougher than you. make a creature card that is in some way difficult to kill. do not use the word "indestructible".

Perfect originality is overrated and often ugly. The best and most beautiful cards I've ever seen were clearly inspired by something else. Cards are not entirely unlike living organisms in this regard. All the good ones are a result of long evolution; the 'original' ones are either monocellular or mutant aberrations.

Moloch the Corruptor Legendary Creature - Demon (M) Flying, trample Whenever a nontoken creature dies, create a 2/2 black zombie creature token. : Return Moloch the Corruptor from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate this ability only if four or more creatures died this turn and only once a turn. 6/6 You come to me like children, with questions to which you are the answer.

Well damn, maybe I should've just done the unblockable ability and drop the Crew to 2... Oh well, too late.
Snowflurry Kamaita Creature - Illusion Weasel When ~ deals combat damage to a player, draw a card. Whenever an opponent casts a spell or activates an ability, you may exile ~. If you do, return it to the battlefield tapped at the beginning of the next end step. "Never let your guard down while in a mountain blizzard. A kamaita may attack at any time, and it withdrawing doesn't mean it has ended it's assault." 2/3
Based on the Kamaitachi, a bladed weasel yokai that attacks travelers in cold areas. Well that's a simplification but I'm not gonna dump all the info on a myth and make this too long. Sneasel is based on them.
Deathless Draugr Creature -- Zombie Warrior (R) Deathtouch Deathless Draugr enters the battlefield tapped. You may cast Deathless Draugr from your graveyard if it was put there this turn from anywhere. Those who lived for battle could hardly be expected to enjoy a quiet afterlife. 3/2

Giuseppe, Master of Disguise Creature -- Human Wizard Rogue If a source would deal damage to ~, instead it deals that much damage to a creature you control chosen at random. If ~ would become the target of a spell or ability, instead that ability targets a creature you control chosen at random. 4/4 "This morning I'll be the baker. By the time the baker is killed, I will be the count. And by the time the count is arrested, I will be the guards arresting him."
This'd be great for the pro tour except I don't know what colours it should be.

- first... it's not really that unintuitive. if there's a crew 1 vehicle and a 3-power creature, you are already overcrewing it and no one will even stop to think about if they can do it. - second, in your situation, even if it's not obvious, any basic observation to such board state will raise the question, "can i actually do that?" I think you give people too little credit, especially when there is such population recognizable enough to have their own archtype... "Johnny"
I do agree design should be simple and intuitive. But not necessarily to the point you have to spell everything out for the player. Besides, all the problem you stated was with crew more so that the design. A high crew count will just make the card unplayable. It's not like formidable comes easy.

that's a very different situation, because you can't crew the vehicle while tapping only some subset of your creatures. you're not just tapping extra stuff for the fun of it.
Besides, all the problem you stated was with crew more so that the design.
strongly disagree. while any vehicle can be overcrewed, outside of weird corner cases none of them encourage you to overcrew them. my point is that that's likely intentional, because overcrewing is not intuitive.

I mean, sure, if all the other numbers stay the same and you just raise the crew count, the card will be worse. but you can change other numbers to compensate, which I specifically recommended.
