I'm not sure what the critique is. Is it just that the flavor is not as direct as would be preferred? The idea is a guy who is turning into a werewolf and is desperate to hold onto the day/his humanity. I just thought the visual idea of him tearing at himself in desperation, feeling there's something inside him he is barely containing, was stronger.

I also had the werewolf side do more originally.

I agree it's a strong image, but it doesn't really resonate with the idea of trying to hold onto the day. that's the aspect I wish the card communicated more clearly, 'cause it makes the rest of it make a lot more sense.

this actually came from the same contest that inspired the last criteria (CotW used to allow ties for some reason) ...
:duel:

I want to say that was from before my time, but I can't rightly say I remember. I remember when people first wanted to change that, there was some hesitation about how to do it. Having the contest runner withhold their vote is a great solution. I do miss having the franchise. Woe is me, across our little democracy I am the only man without a vote.

I could've sworn it was, but you do in fact seem to be running it when Dark of Night won.

it's such a weird thing to try and lord for that it swings into Un territory for me.

That was the intention, hence the goofy reminder text and Asmira, Holy Avenger reference on a card about the fear of clustered holes.

from a rules perspective, is it counting zero the number or 0 the character? presumably :0: counts, since you mentioned mana cost, but does it count aetherflux reservoir? what about djinni windseer? there doesn't seem to be a clear, intuitive answer there. again I like the boldness here, but I just don't think the card itself makes sense.

I used Baron Von Count as a template, so yes, all of those examples count. If it's a 0 and it is in the text box, it counts. Even flavor text.

I mean the tie rules. I think those were before my time.

oh yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the way Rush handled it initially, but sadly that data is lost thanks to WotC's forum management skills.

Is it possible to see through internet archival things like Wayback Machine? Not sure how much would be visible as only a visitor though

A lot of the Forums and the old Wizards site was archived, but not all of it, and it is REALLY hard to browse if you don't have the url of the exact thread you want bookmarked.

not sure. I know some folks tried to trawl up as much of the forum as they could before it got deleted, so the tools might still exist, but I have no idea how to use them, especially since we'd probably have to access the search function to find specific threads. Rush is still around, though, he might be able to confirm how he handled ties.

anyone remember what the old url was for the forums?

EDIT:

https://web.archive.org/web/20150916174 ... ums/102266

Couldn't find anything related to Card of the Week, but then again I don't remember much of the wizards forum or the gleemax one. Someone else who is more familiar would be better scouring for info.
