Last Week's Winner

Twice the fun two ways with Neru's latest winner.
Spoiler

The Contenders

First up are some cards I missed last week.
Mentalist's Checkmate
Sorcery (R)
Name a card.
Target opponent discards a card. If they discard the named card, they lose 10 life and you gain 10 life.
It started innocuously enough - a fleeting idea here, a forgotten fact there. But at some point, her mind became concerned with the big picture of those changes, so it looked at itself as a whole. And, in the entirety of itself, saw a shutdown signal.

Seraphic Tactics
Enchantment - Formation
Whenever a creature in this formation deals combat damage, you gain 3 life.
<-Flying

\/ +2/+2
(As long as a creature is positioned in a formation, it gets the ability for that position (even if the formation isn't complete).)

Protection from white
Observance - When Minotaur Bloodwarden enters the battlefield, if there is a Minotaur card in your graveyard, add to your mana pool.

"There have been many fatal attempts on my life over the years. None fatal to me, of course."
-Teysa, Orzhov Scion

Euphoric Scar-Bearer
Creature — Minotaur Shaman
Whenever Euphoric Scar-Bearer is dealt damage, add that amount of :r:.
On the holiest nights, the shamans lead great rituals of rage, joy, and sorrow. By dawn, the people are spent, soaked, and freed.

If ~'s power is higher than its toughness, lethal damage dealt to creatures you control is determined by their power rather than their toughness.
If ~'s toughness is higher than its power, creatures you control assign combat damage equal to their toughness rather than their power.
: Creatures you control get +1/+0 until end of turn.
: Creatures you control get +0/+1 until end of turn.

Vermilion Trail
Land - Mountain Plains (R)
(: Add or .)
As Vermilion Trail enters the battlefield, you may put a card from your hand on top of your library. If you don't, Vermilion Trail enters the battlefield tapped.

neru wrote:
Renew Perspective
Sorcery
Scry 3. Then, discard any number of cards from your hand and draw that many cards.

Eurus wrote:
Archangel's Domain

Sorcery (M)
Exile all cards in your graveyard. You gain 2 life for each card exiled this way.
As long as Archangel's Domain is the only card in your graveyard, if a card would be put into your graveyard, you may exile it instead. If you do, you gain 2 life.

The Rules

How To Nominate:
Quote the post with the card you want to nominate. Delete everything in that post other than the card. Copy and paste your quote into a post on this thread.
If you did it right the quote tag should link to the original post.

What's Eligible?
Any fan-designed M:TG card posted since the most recent CotW thread went live is eligible. It doesn't even have to be the first time the card was posted. Yes, Un cards are valid. No, Yugioh cards are not.

What's Not Eligible?
  • Nominating your own cards. You can only nominate cards by other people
  • Nominating a card from your own repost, regardless of whether or not the original post was yours.
  • Nominations that result from collusion. If a nomination is made in exchange for some sort of favour, or under some sort of threat, then the nomination is void.
  • Cards that have already won CotW are not eligible for future CotWs.
  • Nominations that I consider to be jokes or trolling.

A Note On Contests:
Many contest holders feel that having an entrant nominated for CotW will skew the results of their contest. To prevent this while still allowing those cards their chance at nomination, any card submitted to a contest is eligible for nomination to CotW as though the date the contest (or pertinent round of the contest) ended was the date the card was posted.

Archangel's Light

I mean that is like one of the worst ever mythic ever printed.

but i can't shake the feeling that Archangel's Domain is undercost.

I really enjoyed the second effect though.

Yeah, as Rush pointed out, the second effect could probably be 1 life, but I wanted to keep the symmetry while not making it unplayable. Besides, this isn't a card that can be exploited in multiples. You only have 39-59 cards you can exile, unlike AL where each card can be shuffled multiple times (not that it's going to happen cause people don't play that card). :P

My contest criteria was to design a card based on a card you don't like. That's why it resembles Archangel's Light so much.
