Grand Warlord Radha |
Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior (R)
Haste
Whenever one or more creatures you control attack, add that much mana in any combination of and/or . Until end of turn, you don't lose this mana as steps and phases end.

Apparently bulking out that much only earned Radah +1 power and +2 toughness? I was expecting at least a 4/4 from the art.

Did she put on weight since Radha, Heir to Keld?

This is an interesting commander, if you can get out some cheap dudes then you can ramp pretty fast

Oddly enough, it bothers me how drab the guy she just murdered looks.

It looks like she just stabbed a peasant and asked someone to take a picture. Doesn't really capture a warrior feel.

Yeah, all of the creative elements have been butchered compared to the original

I guess she sat on the couch for 60 years pounding beeble chips.

Beebles are like 80% protein.

I was quite disappointed when I learned that the original Radha's mana from attacking didn't carry over into the next main phase. It was a harsh lesson for a new commander player. This card gives me an odd sense of vindication.
Now WOTC's just got to print a Sigil Captain equivalent with an effect that stacks and I can finally move on.

"Valduk! You are taking this down for my saga, right? I want there to be illustrations. Do one of me with this slaughtered enemy."
"Hm... I'm not sure it's going to come out so good."
"Why not? Just get my good side and we're fine."
"Llanowar good side or Keld good side?"
"Keld good side, of course! Llanowar is so last block. And can you make my chin a little wider?"
"... as you wish, Grand Warlord"
"Okay, let me strike the pose! and... done!"
"Grand Warlord, I have a question..."
"What is it Valduk?"
"Why did you clean off your sword before stabbing it back into the dead guy?"
"Oh, a magic lion told me to always clean my sword."
"Magic lion?"
"Yeah, I tried to kill it for its pelt, but that didn't take and it just sort of lectured me for a while. But any Lion I can't skin is at least worth listening to a little bit."
"And you didn't wash up your hands or face? Are you sure you don't want to?"
"The magic lion never said anything about washing my hands. Or maybe he did, I don't remember. But I remember the sword thing so clearly that was important."
"You haven't mentioned a magic lion before, do you want that in the saga?"
"No, though it was a pretty cool adventure. I went and killed Heidar and ended the Ice Age and then ruled as Co-Grand-Warlord with Venser, Johira, and Teferi but when we came back after like a hundred years no time had passed, so whatever."
"You ended the Ice Age? I thought that was Belzenlok. Do you really not want in your saga?"
"Nah, it's not like it's canon."
"... as you wish, Grand Warlord."

Pretty sure that mana didn't even make it to the declare blockers step. Yeah, it was harsh and made the card super narrow. I agree I like the execution on this one better.

As for Sigil Captain, have you met Master Biomancer?

For me it was always more about being a 1/1 lord than maxing out the counters. Nice to see biomancer's a little cheaper now though.

Back when Radha was made, mana emptied only at the end of phases, not steps. That changed in the M10 rules change I think.
