Great to hear this, and remember that as long as one person can record the match then it´s all good!!

Yeah fyi guys I am literally unable to record my games because it would take me a little less than an eon to upload a video with my Internet connection. However I'll be playing on my cellular connection which is usually impeccable so my matches won't be affected by my household connection.

I won't be able to record either, unless you want me to record my ipad ;-)

This is what happened to the last initiate who refused to record...

We can figure it out when the time comes, just remember that the most important thing is to run the tourney and have a good time. Recording is the only way the rest of us can enjoy the games so let us try to find the sweet spot between playing and watching.

If recording is indeed required for top 8 I may have to bow out entirely. I'm not at all exaggerating saying I cannot upload from my connection I know because I have tried many times. Are our rules copy pasted or are the top 8 required to record their matches?

Also I'm sorry I did not read the rules as diligently as I should have

It would be a funny sight, people watching me play and swiping my finger before the screen all the time.

Guys,

Having been watching this thread, I have a few questions.
Try not to see this is a complaint, but rather as a need for clarity.
My apologies in advance for the long post.

1. Although I agree 100% that it is important to have fun, this is still supposed to be a tournament.
For each of us, participating means freeing up time to play, remaining available for messages (either via NGA PM's or otherwise), setting up our systems for recording, etc. etc.
As such, checking the entry requirements prior to signing up is really just a minimal common courtesy towards each other, yes/no?

The topic of recording had already come up during the past couple of days.
Technically, if you were keeping an eye on this thread and recording does pose an issue for you, this should have raised a(nother) red flag.
Please do keep in mind that I say this without any bitterness or pointing of fingers whatsoever.
It just feels like such a waste if this came down to entries getting withdrawn only a day or two before the submission deadline.
I'm actually looking forward to this thing and think it would be a bummer if I don't get to play against some of you.

In theory (but this is up to the organizers) I think we can (probably) work around the recording part, as long as at least half of the participants has the necessary means to record their matches.
Perhaps we can do a quick inventory on who actually is/isn't able to record?

2. Something I haven't seen mentioned yet: connectivity. Where are you guys from?
Myself, I'm located in the Netherlands so apart from time zones, connection quality could be a thing to consider.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's seen and/or played plenty of matches where having lag would result in losses, or missed opportunities coupled with some tilting at the very, very least.
Would it be an idea to add this information to the participants list? (perhaps including the specific states for US residents, considering the various time zones)
(Heck, if there was enough time, I'd even go as far as proposing test matches with non-tournament decks, just to ensure everything is running smoothly)

3. I just tried finding a few of the apps suggested on the page referenced by Necr0potence above.
I'm hoping this is simply due to me being located in the EU, but hardly any of those apps from section 3 of the article are available in the App Store.
Also, I'm seeing some warnings on these apps potentially compromising user's privacy by running in the background and recording sensitive information.
I didn't find any hard evidence of this, but I haven't been able to confirm the legitimacy of these apps either, and felt like this may be worth mentioning.
Unless I'm dead wrong here, I would advise the guys who are currently unable to record, to proceed with caution.

4. Lastly, SquiderDragon was said to be 'kind of out' in light of recent events in the UK (which I would completely understand if that were to be the case).
However, since he is shown on the participants list, what does 'kind of out' mean exactly?
If it's not asking for too much, could we please get a more clearly defined update on this?
And, if it turns out he is 'out' out, some sort of update on how the organization will be handled going forward would be highly appreciated as well.

Thank you for your time and again, my apologies for the lengthy post.
I prefer to be thorough.

P.S.: To the organizers: my decklist is finished, still working on my sideboard. It will be in your inbox tomorrow at the very latest. Thank you for your patience.

Ne0n the organization team is SD, Sando 23 and Me, my fellows compadres have been very busy this couple of days, (I´m self employed so my working hours are more flexible) but all of this discussions have been addressed in one way or another during preparations of the trials, on the recording part we want to remain open to suggestions but this tourney is suppose to be more than just the search for the best player on this season, we want to boost up the iOs Duels community who is very large but don´t seem to be visible enough the Vids point on that direction, we have very good players Mort & Ajuun are two of the best, but nobody knows that because you have to play a match to them to see what decks they build and how the run them, I mean even some of the most notorious NGA users who play on IOS have a prejudge on the level of the game we can deliver, we want that to change.

I live in Chile, SD is from UK, Sando USA, you Neanderthals, Zen has a 12 hour difference with me so he is on somewhere of Asia or Australia) Necr0 I believe is from Brazil or Portugal, my point is that we have a pretty cool and diverse player base and the connections seems to work fine once you connect, Me and SD run a few tests and my game to Zen on KOTH worked fine so we should not expect issues there.

The tricky part is to connect.
Hope this clears a few things.

EDIT: Sideboard video for duels, might come in handy ;)

Best to you and the rest of the Initiates.

yeah, some of the apps are not available anymore or require jailbreak!
and im from Portugal yeah!! the current European Champion :p

and dont worry so much guys thinking about the recording and connectivity.
its true that its a bummer sometimes, but lets not focus on the bad things and look foward and make Duels on IOS recognized in the community :)

hope to see u all soon on the battlefield

I wasn't at all worried about it until I saw it was required for top 8

Recording is only required for the top 8? Sweet, I'll never make it that far :) .... rightdecklist submitted... it's probably not optimised but let's see how it goes.

All, I am back. I was only out for a weekend visiting family a few weeks back. Let's just state that if at all possible recording would be good. Maybe there is an incorrect assumption (on my part) that anyone that has an iOS device would have either a pc or mac to backup, load content etc. Of course you can run iOS purely from the cloud.

If you can't record and make top 8 we may be lucky that your opponent can.

Recording whilst highly desirable will not be a deal breaker for progressing into top 8 and beyond.

Hope that is clear.

SD

EDIT: the recent Manchester attack was deeply upsetting for all right minded people. All of us in UK and wider world are shocked, upset and angry about it but apart from the directly impacted victims and close family and friends we will not change how we live and enjoy our lives nor would those self same victims and family and friends want us to I would strongly suggest.
