Yeah Matrix and John Wick should never have had sequels. They would be these epic masterpieces that people would talk about for a long time, especially Matrix

Whereas Equalizer seems to be able to repeat their formula and keep it interesting. Must be the director (Training Day)

What about a movie like Nobody? Do you think they could recreate the magic that was the first?

I think BB is on to something. Maybe it's less the concept and more the writer and director. Remember those Kingsman movies? They fell flat after the first.

So yeah I think Equalizer is filmed better which makes the violence more real and visceral. It’s in general LESS violent which makes the violence hit much harder (like it does in Drive which had very little but EXTREME violence).

Denzel is a far better actor too so that helps but it’s gotta be the screenplay mixed with the director

Yeah I liked Nobody a lot too. I’d be in for a sequel but some of the best moments are « reveal » moments which you can’t repeat. Like when his family comes up out of the safe room and he says « don’t call 911 ». That’s a big record scratch moment which makes that movie so good and memorable

I’m with BB on Nobody. What’s the next film going to be without the reveal? That was the magic sauce of the film, imo.

I’m surprised about Kingsman. I fully expected that to end up as a James Bond clone, and a good one at that.

Equalizer doesn’t have that kind of magic sauce, it’s just a fun, good, action flic, and those can be done again and again until the actor just can’t do it anymore.

Equalizer is just surprisingly reliable and satisfying.

If we put the first entry of that versus Matrix and John Wick, obviously it’s a very distant third

But if we put the totality of the franchises up against each other? I’d argue Equalizer is better, more consistent, more worth the time. Again, I haven’t seen the third

Maybe simple is good for franchises and uniqueness is good for single entries (Fifth Element, etc)

And I think we are being unfair to Equalizer cuz there is definitely a special sauce there that other action/revenge franchises like Taken can’t seem to produce.

About Equalizer, that wasn’t meant as a negative.

The hook of the movie is just repeatable (it’s not just some big reveal, or a new technology, or filming technique). It’s not a one time thing.

Yeah, I agree. And for some reason the repeatable hook of John Wick, for me, has become super boring.

It’s just not believable that people would **** with John Wick on purpose.

The first story made sense, it was basically a mistake.

Everything after is just silly.

The new Vegas race intrigued me.
I had to fire up the F1 23 game and try it in the Aston Martin.
This is the first lap I didn't bin it. Still 10-12 seconds off qualifying times.

I haven't seen the movies but showing my age or not I really loved the TV series I suppose the movies are based upon. I also could be way off but I hope not. I love the series and a movie living up to it would be great fun.

I tried watching that but I feel asleep, maybe i should have watched it on the big screen.

Don't know who all has seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force but in the end music for as long as I've seen the series I thought one of the lyrics was "ass finger puppet".
Well tonight on a whim I Googled ass finger puppet and the first hit was pertaining to ATHF.
