It’s human psychology to think bad things won’t happen to you. This is worse when it would be the second such lightning strike.

Protesters glued a tiny Trump wig to a pidgeon, hlued tiny MAGA hats to hundreds of other pidgeons, and set them loose in Las Vegas.

Re: bus

It’s lucky but not extremely lucky, if it was a full size bus. Design makes them very safe in crashes. About 10x safer than regular auto
Image

That said, if it was lap/shoulder combo I’d wear it for little extra safety in already safe bus. But everything is a percentage game and everybody makes their own risk/reward evaluations. For those old folks already looking at death on the horizon, maybe they weight comfort of no belt as higher reward for the risk

Julian Assange is accusing Trump of offering him a pardon in exchange for helping cover up Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Big news if true. But it’s Assange so...

Project 538 has Sanders and Biden as front runners, followed by Bloomberg. They give No One the highest odds at winning a majority of delegates. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/20 ... -forecast/

The huge drop on the first graph for Biden at the 2/3 mark is why I started counting him out (obviously not this graph cause it didn’t exist, but by drops in the polls around that time), but they think he’ll do well enough in the south to remain competitive.

I’m starting to believe that Bernie will have a clear plurality but not a majority.

If 21 people want to go to lunch, 9 vote for KFC, and the other 12 split their vote across 6 different pizza places such that none gets more than 4; should they go for fried chicken or pizza? Does the calculus change if the KFC people feel they were cheated the last time they picked a place for lunch? What about if they need a minimum of 15 people to be able to go anywhere at all?

In reality they would split up and go two places; but the DNC doesn’t work that way lol.

If they nominate Bloomberg I’m voting straight Republican.

Going to be interesting if Sanders wins. At this point, I don’t see him not getting it unless DNC pulls shenanigans again. Socialist wing concentrated in Dem party, and looks like he’ll get highest delegate count. If they do pull another heist I think party fractures and the socialist wing goes 3rd party for foreseeable future. If they don’t shenanigans, I think it’s Trump hate or bust for a Sanders win, with gen pop views on socialism. Will be very interesting. Dem party is in quite the pickle, which is crazy cause Trump should be easy to beat in a vacuum

I think Sanders gets crushed in a general election. In fact, I hope Sanders gets crushed if he makes it to the general election.

People like him should never be allowed into power: He's a bigot, and I just can't imagine anyone less suited to lead this country. If you want a socialist, more power to you. But if you actually want to elect someone who actively tries to vilify people based purely on the amount of wealth they've got, I've got an intellectual challenge for you. Take a look at everything Sanders has ever said about the rich (or people working for Sanders - supporters are much worse, but I don't think it's fair to attribute what they say to him), replace the words 'rich'/'1% percenter'/etc... with blacks or jews. If you can still stomach his message after that, be aware that you are not, historically, in good company. Be also aware, that though I do not think it's fair to attribute what supporters say to Sanders, he doesn't discourage their behavior.

There have been plenty of leaders in the past who have attempted to divide people in this manner (by scapegoating groups), the vast majority of them are universally seen as villains.

Lots of shade being thrown on Sanders and Bloomberg in this thread, the two most likely nominees

I hope I’m not stating the obvious but they will be running against President Trump btw

I really hope Bloomberg takes it, personally

Howard Stern basically endorsed him this week

I can't throw enough shade at Bernie. I really can't stand the guy. When I was at Berkeley, I met people like him (just younger). They were the absolute worst people I've ever met, filled with such a sense of their own self-importance that they couldn't even hear the counter arguments to what they believed - and they felt entitled to cause anyone who disagreed with them harm. They, as a group, seemed to lack any sense of empathy whatsoever - and the worst part was that they would claim that their political stances were in fact based on (some worldly version of) empathy. It was the most surreal thing I've ever experienced, but I've always attributed it to their youth and lack of world experience (e.g.: things they would eventually learn not to believe). Sanders, somehow, has managed to carry this from of insanity all the way into late adulthood.

I'm very undecided on Bloomberg - he seems like he's a Republican to me (conservative to the bone). Is that the end of the world, when the other option is Trump? probably not. But it's not really my cup of tea.

It’s never going to be your cup of tea though and that’s the point. Deciding not to support the nominee cuz they’re not your cup of tea makes you sound like a Bernie supporter, lol. You’re better than that. Politics is supposed to be about compromise and we should certain make compromises at the voting booth

I don’t want to see Bernie winning the nomination. Not at all. I think Bloomberg is fine and he certainly fits with the politics of today. I don’t mind Biden either. Warren worries me but not as much as Bernie. Pete would be fun and I find it hilarious the standards people are trying to hold him to. It’s like everyone forgets who the current head of state is

I don’t like Bernie supporters much either

I am undecided at this point, and I still have some time to make up my mind prior to Super Tuesday. I'm certainly being pushed to vote for Bloomberg right now, but that's not really how I make my decisions. When I say he's not my cup of tea, I just mean that, in a vacuum, he doesn't fit the profile. I'd vote for him any day against Trump, and twice on Sundays. I would not vote for Sanders against Trump, or frankly anyone else short of obvious Devil himself.

I would legitimately vote for Trump over Bloomberg or Gabbard. I would vote for any of the other current candidates over Trump.

Trump is so bad that I’ll vote for most Kompromat free non authoritarians over him. Most of our Congressmen are crooks; but they tend to be American crooks with some sense of shame on the Democratic side.

I don’t have strong opinions on Bloomberg as a candidate. I threw “shade” on him earlier in thread, discounting his chances based on how I think voters will perceive him. He was Republican as mayor, and his crime policies as mayor are were policies the left is staunchly against and can be easily (in fact are being) painted as racist. He’s a billionaire, so radical elements of socialist wing would have him 1st up against the wall. And he entered race late. My earlier take was due to late entry, “buying” his way into the picture off his billions, and perception as racist Republican would be too many strikes against him.

HMMM... MJack, you'd rather have Trump than Bloomberg. I'm surprised. Without me challenging your opinions - e.g.: I will not argue with a word that you say - could you explain why?
