To be fair (and believe me, i hate this economy more then just about anyone) that guy's rate is for every single card 4 copies, which is pretty irrelevant to most of us as we'll have no desire for all the bad cards so it should take us a lot less time then that.

Seems to be about double what I’d be willing to pay. Hmmm

Possibly triple.

No one should pay more than $100, that number lets you build your collection, enjoy the game and complete your daily quests, you can go under that an grind bit more, but IME you really shouldn´t go higher than that.

The number of sets in the game is too damn high.

Completely ignoring the game's economy for just a moment, they have no way to look at your collection outside of the deck builder or even sort by set, so as a die-hard Duels fan I can't keep 5 sets straight. The game is going to release with at least seven sets. Possibly more.

What the flying **** is a casual F2P player going to do when they have to try and keep 7+ sets straight and can only buy 30-40 packs per month if they do the full grind every day. This isn't even an issue with the fact that more than 80% of cards are useless in Constructed. I just fundamentally don't understand how a casual free to play player is supposed to parse the information on display here in a matter that will let them optimize decision making. Because I for **** sure can't do it, and I know which cards I'm targeting.

Spending $0 needs to be a viable option.

I'm not going to assume your opinion either way on this issue, but I am damn sure that at least when it comes to the MTG:A subreddit community, the people who like this game's economy fundamentally don't understand the idea that people need to be able to play, competitively, for completely free within a month's worth of grinding. That's just the expected bar for a F2P player to be able to play a game for free.

And you need F2P players to play the game so people who spend money have someone to play against. That is the fundamental basis of the entire model.

And all the dumbasses posting threads along the lines of "Look How Amazing Quick Constructed is to grind" don't seem to understand that they are doing above average and casual bad players you still need will not be doing that well in those settings. They also don't understand how much the next wipe is going to negatively affect that environment. And frankly they are going to get what they deserve when this game does bad and they don't understand why.

And yes, saying "**** all the free to play peasants" is an option, but that's not how you get a new market share. That's how you split your old market share, maybe get a few long-time fans back into the game, and overall have the game end up as just another niche product like MTGO.

I dont like the economy, I just wanted to avoid all that suffering and time you need to get around a good deck, I can only spare some time on the game, and I play no other digital games, I’m sure $100 is way above how much the average user will spend. But thats what I decided this game is worth for me and the hours I will play it, if anyone can use the information I’m sharing here to help them made their decision Even better
Also, stop **** calling dumb or stupid anyone that doesn’t share you negativity.

Thanks Cucho

I’m going to give this a go at spending zero, not sure how that will go

As one of those Dumbasses I tried an experiment tonight to see how bad Quick would be for someone with no resources.

I went 2-3 and 3-3. All Common deck. Not great, but better than expected.

Decklist:

18 swamps
42 Rat Colony

I had about 1/3 of the people I played remark "Nice!" when I played my first Rat.

Not much, but more then expected. Beat a RDW, U/W and a Knight deck and a few other janky things but all on the play. Lost to a couple of other RDW and a few random decks.

It was fun to race and beat a RDW.

T1 Rat
T2 Rat and swing for 3
T3 Rat And swing for 8
T4 Rat, Rat and swing for 18. (he killed one, but still 10 got through)

The UW was the best though. Settle for 1 big Rat, Seal another....but they kept pouring through. All the while it was Cycle, Cycle, Cycle.

Very mindless deck, but still fun when it comes together. And you can't get much more consistent.

Edit: And I am so tired I missed the RDW pun until after I posted and reread. Doh. Time for bed.

Ok. I understand that you are angry or hurt or butthurt or whatever. You are entitled to your opinions. And as a resident dumbass, I should just ignore the teenage outbreaks. Not that I know if you are a teenager, or out-of-touch with your feelings or whatever is going on.

But here's the thing. I'm entitled to my opinions as well. And a dumbass I am not, believe you me. Posting like that just irks me the wrong way. This post is just to let you know, that I don't find it appropiate and I will now add you to my fine little list of ignored people as I find no value in reading your comments or posts anymore.

Have a good day.

:applause::excite::applause::excite::rofl:

I need to try this as well, just for the laughs. I did see the card when I got in, but figured they hadn't made it possible to actually use the ability to stuff as many in a deck as you want.

I personally just took the vampire precon deck, popped 7-8 wcs, 2 rare and rest uncommon and my first qc was 6-2, netting 3 mythics (odds, I know!) and I average out above 66% wins atm. I think if I spent money on it as well, I could probably boost that another 5% or so.

Vamps are pretty strong build in budget. Orzhov was the first deck I built when I got in.

When I was a kid I just bought whatever pack had a cool picture (probably whatever the store put in front). I didn't make optimized decisions and I didn't win any tournaments but I had fun. I think we just have to hope that there are enough new players at any given time that they can find matches together.

great post, jackal.

If your objective is to own every card of every set, there's something wrong with you. You should be just trying to have fun and enjoy the game.
