It's unbelievable. Unheard of. Unusual. It's unique. And it's unfathomably fun.

Announcing Unsanctioned, the preconstructed silver-bordered experience coming February 29, 2020.

Unsanctioned contains five combinable 30-card, silver-bordered decks for wacky Un- fun.

The set contains sixteen brand-new Un- cards to trip your Un- trigger, plus the reprinting of beloved Un- cards from previous Un- sets. It's unbelievable!

Unsanctioned also comes with new full-art black-bordered basic lands that will do the Un- line proud—with a new Un- style and new art. Regular, gorgeous art.

Each copy of Unsanctioned contains the following:

5 30-card decks
2 six-sided dice
10 double-sided tokens
10 full-art basic lands (5 regular, 5 premium)
1 reusable box
Unsanctioned will be available worldwide in English, and will be available in local game stores, mass market stores, and online.

The idea of combinable decks is interesting. I'll be curious to give this a shot.

I suppose they decided that the Un line wasn't suited to boosters. I guess that makes sense; for a lot of folks it's a one and done deal. Or is this more like the Magic Night box set they put out? Starting to think so here. Un with a multiplayer focus sounds like a hoot.
The 30 card deck are a real surprise. I guess nobody would want to run an 80 card deck so they had to make the precons(?) half the size of a regular deck? Or are they just trimming it down for bite size fun and/or lower print costs?

I like that they advertise the "reusable box" I hope very much that the box is not special at all. It would really loose something to me if the box was of high quality.

And once again I hope WOTC realizes there's nothing stopping them from printing black border nonland cards in an Un set. Just throw some goofy art on an old classic and people will snap them up!

CotW is a method for ranking cards in increasing order of printability.

*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

A few clarifications here.

1) This isn't a replacement for silver-bordered booster products. They just wanted to make a fun boxed product and decided that silver-bordered was a fun way to do that. https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/1 ... hat-i-dont
2) This box is designed for 1v1, not multiplayer. Each player takes two decks and shuffles them together to make one 60 card deck.
3) Every card in Unsanctioned is silver-bordered, except the basic lands. https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/1 ... r-bordered

Notably unless we assume that the decks are designed to run with only 20 lands, this would imply that each deck contains 1-3 silver bordered lands, correct?

That's a good point. That makes sense.

I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that there is one card which is in all of the decks. That could be a land.
